We started off our first property in the track in the field space in late 2022 with Justin Gatlin, the most decorated sprinter of all time. It’s been one of the greatest learning points in our business to date.
We’ve tried multiple different styles in the podcast, and while they had some success, nothing ever quite felt “right” or had a sustained success or a community we felt.
Fast forward to January 2024, when we had to reinvent ourselves as a podcast after a call with Justin. I think there were a couple of things that didn’t feel great about the podcast, but the biggest one is it felt like a lot of different attempts, and we needed to come back as a group and find a different plan that could be consistent and build out a real identity and community. It was a great call by Justin, and we quickly put our heads together to figure out a way to make it work with a legend like himself.
Since we reworked the podcast and provided a great, relevant analysis of current track events, our podcast has completely skyrocketed and built such a loyal community.
A couple of things have led to our success. The first one is consistency. It’s something we preach on all of our shows. I think every podcaster/content creator in the world would agree with that. The next thing is that Justin and Rod have built up such great relationships in the space that we’ve had the honour of hosting some incredible guests. The third thing is that the guys are so knowledgeable and don’t have any narratives/agendas on certain individuals or countries.
I could continue to go on and on about why we’ve grown, but the answer is Justin and Rod have been incredible in trusting the process and great at delivering an incredible product. It also helps that we are in an Olympic year!
