“I’m Ready to Run My Race” - Georges Niang on "Run Your Race" Podcast (1 minute read)

Mario, Princess Peach go on a new adventure in the animated film, Super Mario Brothers

Another great one we got for you guys this week. We got Iowa State legend Georges Niang in the building.

We went down to Cleveland to sit down with some of the Cavaliers to discuss the upcoming season and, obviously, “their race.” Man, I did not know what to expect from Georges, but it was a really fun episode that I really advise people to go check out. We are blessed and privileged to have some great guests, and Georges is at the top of the list.

His time at Iowa State, from breaking his foot, going to an Elite Eight, locking in, to becoming an NBA draft pick, is all incredible insight to understand what the journey looks like for other players. One of the biggest things about Run Your Race is what we preach. Every road is different, but you can still get where you want. Georges grinded his way through the G League in Fort Wayne and ended up in Salt Lake City with Quin Snyder (as seems an incredible coach from Georges’ words).

When he finally got to the NBA, he had a hilarious story about DeMarcus Cousins calling him a Teletubby and harassing him in one of his first games. He explains why Donovan Mitchell and those Utah Jazz teams played so well together. What it’s like playing with two MVPs in James Harden and Joel Embiid. We also learned how he approached sticking in the league and getting his first opportunity.
